Practical Warsaw

CASH, TRAVELLER’S CHEQUES, MONEY ORDERS
The currency in Poland is the Polish Złoty (PLN) 1 PLN = 100 groszy.
Coins circulate in denominations of 1 PLN, 2 PLN, 5 PLN and 10, 20 and 50 groszy; banknotes are in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 PLN.
In some larger stores, such as hypermarkets, and at some cash-only windows, you can pay in Euros. You must notify the cashier that you will be paying in Euros, but note that it is not a popular currency in Poland yet, and chances are that your change will be given in PLN.

Currency Exchange
Currency should be exchanged at a registered exchange center. There is no commission for the exchange.
Note that cash should not be exchanged on the street or with bystanders.

TICKET

Buses and SKM trains serving Chopin Airport are part of the Public Transport Authority of Warsaw’s (Zarząd
Transportu Miejskiego – ZTM) public transport network. The tickets can be purchesed:

  • at the Passenger Information Point in the arrivals hall
  • from ticket machines placed at bus stops and next to the train station entrance
  • from ticket machines in SKM trains and on some buses
  • from bus drivers

For safety reasons we strongly advise you to use licensed taxi services offered at Chopin Airport. Taxi tariffs should be clearly displayed in the car window. The taxi fare from the airport to the city centre is approx. PLN 40.

BY TRAIN

If you want to get to Warsaw by train, you can consult the website of the Polish railway Polrail, where you can book your train tickets, saving significantly on price.
Both the SKM and KML trains from Chopin airport’s Terminal A leave from the Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina airport train station and head to Warsaw city center. From Modlin Airport, the KML trains first leave for Chopin and from there to Warsaw Center Warsaw has railway connections with all large cities in Europe. The Central railway station is located in the city center.

BY BUSES

Bus lines in the routes 148, 175, 188, 331 operate from the Chopin airport to different parts of Warsaw.

Warsaw airport you can reach the city centre and the main train station by bus with a few zlotys. In fact, the bus is the cheapest solution to get to the Centre of Warsaw. The bus stop is located between the arrivals terminal and parking. To get to the Centre of Warsaw Chopin Airport you have to take the bus number 175 and 188. The bus takes about 30 minutes to reach the Centre.
